Mission
BACKGROUND
In 2008, the Québec Entrepreneurship Contest (QEC) decided to survey the participants in the Student Entrepreneurship division to find out the effects of their participation in an entrepreneurial project. As the spinoffs have proven to be highly positive, the QEC has broadened its mission by creating Valoris to determine the precise spinoffs and success factors of entrepreneurial projects carried out in schools in Québec’s disadvantaged areas.
MISSION
Valoris is an initiative of the Québec Entrepreneurship Contest designed to help implement entrepreneurial projects in Québec elementary and secondary schools located in disadvantaged areas in order to boost students’ self-esteem through action. An elementary or secondary school may participate in Valoris if it has a decile rank of 8, 9 or 10, according to the socioeconomic index of the Ministère de l'Éducation du Loisir et du Sport (MELS).
For more information about the definition of a “disadvantaged area” or to find out whether your school is eligible, you may consult the MELS Web site at the following address: www.mels.gouv.qc.ca/sections/publications/index.asp?page=fiche&id=956 (French only).
GENERAL OBJECTIVE
